Legends Ranch is home to Larry & Lisa Johnston, our children Jacob & Kaelah, Lisa’s mother Brenda, a herd of exceptional alpacas and a myriad of farm animals including our own “Meet & Greet”, Gertrude the turkey. A newly blended family, a girl from the city and a boy from the country, Lisa convinced her new husband to follow her childhood dream of ranching. After several years of research, visiting local and national farms and shows, and logging a couple thousand miles, we purchased our ranch and first bred female alpacas and never looked back.

When we started out, our philosophy was to make the most of our budget and buy the best we could afford. As luck would have it, what began as 3 bred females quickly grew in just two years to be 7 fabulous females and 2 magnificent males. While we are still a small farm, we continue to focus on world class genetics as we grow our herd, injecting new bloodlines from around the country with a strong focus on fineness, density, character and excellent conformation.

Our facilities focus on the health, comfort and well-being of the herd. The pastures are set up with several pens for birthing, weaning and quarantine. A dedicated herdsire pen and a medical ward complete the layout allowing the flexibility of moving and caring for the alpacas in an easy and efficient manner, ensuring they are provided with the best care possible while minimizing stress on the animals.

We invite you to come visit the Legends to see the animals and talk about life with alpacas and the benefits they bring with them. While it’s not always no-stress living like many will tell you, we believe you’ll find it’s a far cry from the corporate world.

While you are here, there are many fun activities to enjoy in the area. We are located about 45 minutes from Dallas/Ft. Worth, 3 hours from the casinos in Shreveport (even closer in Oklahoma), and 90 minutes from the world’s largest outdoor flea market, the Canton First Monday Trade Days (certain dates). Great restaurants are close by and of course there is plenty of world famous Texas hospitality.
